Stampeders drop 3rd straight, 6-2 on the road to the Virden Oil Capitals

The Swan Valley Stampeders dropped their 3rd straight decision and had their record to drop to 7-12-3 on the season losing 6-2 on the road to the Virden Oil Capitals on Thursday night.

The Oil Caps would strike first as Mack Hardy would gobble up a rebound and bang home his 9th of the season 9:40 into the 1st to give them an early 1-0 lead.  Just 40 seconds later they would add to their lead as Carter Cowlthorp would snipe his 7th of the year over the right shoulder of Brett Evans to give the home team a 2-0 lead. The Stamps would be able to cut their deficit in half with 4:40 remaining in the opening frame as Conor Navrot would capitalize on a rebound for his 6th of the campaign to make it a 2-1 lead for Virden after 1 period, with shots 10-6 Oil Caps through 20 minutes.

The Oil Caps would pick up where they left off to start the 2nd as just 1:40 in, Jeran Knorr would jam home his 9th of the season to help the Oil Caps regain their 2 goal lead at 3-1. Virden would add 3 more in the middle frame off the sticks go Carter Cowlthorp, Tyler Kirkup and Kyle Salaway to increase their lead to 6-1. The Stamps would add a late goal with 3:09 left in the 2nd, Trevar Mann would rip home his 8th of the year to make it 6-2 and thats how it would end after a scoreless 3rd period.

Oil Caps' goalie Marc Audet made 34 saves to get the win while in the Stamps' net Brett Evans allowed 5 goals on 20 shots before being relieved for Connor Slipp who turned aside 13 of 14 shots.

The Stamps return to action on Saturday night when they visit the OCN Blizzard at 7PM while the Oil Caps go right back at it on Friday when they travel to battle the Neepawa Natives
