Cooper helps get Mils Crucial victory, Cardinals fall to Saskatoon
Millionaire first baseman and Coppell, Texas native Campbell Cooper broke a 4-4 tie in the eighth inning 2-run homerun and that was enough as the Millionaires improved their record to 22 and 19 after a 6-5 victory over the Weyburn Beavers at Pirie Field.
B.C native Nathan Kirby got the win improving his record to 4-2 on the season. The win pushes the Mils lead for 2nd place in the East Division 4.5 games ahead of the Beavers.
The Mils return to the diamond on Wednesday night when they visit the Swift Current Indians, before going on their Alberta road swing through Lethbridge and Okotoks starting on the weekend.

Elsewhere, the Yorkton Cardinals fell at home to the Saskatoon Yellow Jackets 7-6. Cardinals pitcher Travis Donahoo took the loss on the mound scattering 7 hits and 6 runs over 6 1/3 innings while striking out a season high 10 Saskatoon batters.
Tyler Arthur led the way at the plate for the Cardinals going 2-4 and a RBI. Ian Horne and Andrew Tindell also had two hits apiece for the Cards, who with the loss record drops to 13-30 on the season.
The Cards are back in action Tuesday night when they travel to Regina to take on the 1st place and league leading Regina Red Sox at 7:05 Currie Field.
