Terriers fall for the 2nd Straight time in Humboldt 3-2

The Humboldt Broncos took a 2-1 series lead in the Best of 7 Canalta Cup Final with a 3-2 win over the Yorkton Terriers.

The Terriers opened the scoring just over 5 mins into the opening frame as Tyler Giebel would get his 3rd goal of the playoffs on the Powerplay to make it 1-0 for Yorkton. It would stay that way until Justin Lund would rip a sshot past Dawson McAuley to make it a 1-1 after 1 period.

Lots went on in the 2nd period, including a very scrap between John Odgers and Rhett Blackmur, but maybe a little penalty trouble for the Terriers which included a 5 minute Checking from Behind major to J Odgers, as the Broncos would get 2 Powerplay goals Adam Antkowiak and Alex Forsberg to give Humboldt a 3-1 lead after 40 minutes of play.

In the third, the Terriers would cut their deficit to within 1 as Dakota Odgers would get his 4th goal of the playoffs off a deflection from Patrick Martens shot to make 3-2 but unfortunately that's as close as the Terriers would get.

Matt Hrnykiw stopped 34 of 36 shots for the victory while Dawson McAuley stopped 30 shots but was tagged for the loss.

Terriers now down 2-1 in the series with Game 4 taking place on Thursday back in Yorkton , 7:20/7:30 on GX94.

  1. i see they are behind again and with no surprize i guess. the problem the terriers have is that there goalie have a bad glove hand and the other goalie has a better glove hand.you keep taking dumb penalities and you are going to lose the game. so wake up and pull your socks up if you want to win the league.so stay out of the box and play like you can play you have to win one there if you want to go on.

  2. The difference in this series is definetly goalkeeping. The previous poster obviously hasn't seen the games. In game 3 while short on a 5 min. major the game was over if it were not for several unbelievable saves by MacAuley. In game 4 he was outstanding keeping a zero on the wall in the first. The Terriers have started to go high on Hrnykiw and finding success. If the Terriers play with the same energy Saturday in Humboldt the underDOGS will win.
