(Thanks Peter Baran for the photo)

The Yorkton Terriers are 2013 Canalta Cup Champions after they defeated the Humboldt Broncos 4-3 on home ice to win the series 4-2.

The Terriers scored 3 quick goals in the 1st period and all by 20 year olds as Patrick Martens, Nathan Murray and Austin Bourhis all with goals for the Terriers in the 1st frame and they led 3-0 after 1 period.

But the Humboldt Broncos would come back and score 2 big goals in the 2nd period off the sticks of Matt Audette and Neil Landry scored goals in the 2nd to cut the Terriers lead to only one goal 3-2 after 40 minutes of play.

The Broncos would make it a tie hockey game with just over 4 minutes remaining on the clock when Adam Ankowiak would bang it home past Dawson McAuley to tie it up at 3, that was until Terriers Captian Devon McMullen would put the pass he got in front past Matt Hrnykiw to give the Terriers a 4-3 Game 6 victory to win the Canalta Cup.

Dawson McAuley who was named Co Playoff MVP with Brady Norrish stopped 29 of 32 shots for the victory while SJHL Goalie of the Year stopped 29 of 33 shots in a losing cause.

Congratulations to the Yorkton Terriers on the Canalta Cup Title, also big props to the Humboldt Broncos for such a great series and a great season.

  5. Well done calling the games all season. Just one tip. You overuse the word "folks".

Try finding other words that mean the same, because, especially in the call of the final 16 seconds of the game and shortly after it was "stand up folks, salute the Terrier folks, folks, folks, folks, etc."
