Stampeders' drop home ice decision to visiting Blues on Sunday

The Swan Valley Stampeders fell on home ice, 7-5 to the Winnipeg Blues on Sunday night to wrap up the season series between the two hockey clubs.

Tommy Cardinal got the Stampeders' on the board first 7:37 into the 1st as he got 21st of the season to make it 1-0.

The Blues would respond though as while on a 2 man advantage, Mitchell Joss walked in from the right point and sniped it by Mikael Foucher for his 24th of the season to even the game up just 5 minutes later.

But the Stamps' would regain their one goal lead heading into the 1st intermission as Daunte Fortner deflected in a Luke Beerman shot past Blues' G Will Gurski for his seventh to give Swan a 2-1 lead after 20 minutes

The Stampeders' added to their lead just under 6 minutes into the 2nd and it would be Trevor Schroder shoving in his 20th to give them their first two goal lead at 3-1.

But the Blues would storm back as MJHL leading scorer Mikol Sartor notched two, his 30th and 31st goals of the season just 3:07 apart that put the game tied at 3-3 after 40 minutes.

In the 3rd, Josh Maucieri's powerplay goal just 30 seconds in put the Stamps ahead by one once again.

Winnipeg would once again storm back this time with 3 unanswered including two goals on the 5 minute major given to Stamps' D Tanner Glasrud that came off the stick of Sartor and Brayden Foreman that the gave the Blues' their first leads at 6-4.

The Stamps' cut their deficit within one as Jackson Betcher beat Will Gurski short-side to make it a one goal game but thats as close they would get as Mitchell Joss iced it into the empty-net in the final minute to help in the win.

Blues' netminder Will Gurski turned aside 40 shots to earn his 4th win of the season while Mikael Foucher made 33 saves for the Stampeders' in the loss.
