Stampeders' suffer first loss after 6-4 loss in Waywayseecappo

The Swan Valley Stampeders' record dropped to 4-1 on the young MJHL regular season on Friday night after a 6-4 loss on the road against the Waywayseecappo Wolverines on Friday.

The Stampeders' would strike first on the road as loose puck slipped back-door for 20 year old Jackson Zloty flipped over his 5th of the season over the left pad of Wolverines' G Liam Tereposky to give Swan a 1-0 lead just 6:45 into the 1st.

Waywayseecappo knotted things up before the first period buzzer went off as Jaymes Knee saucer passed a nice pass over to Tyson Zimmer and the 16 year old Russell, MB product re-directed in his 1st MJHL goal and that evened their first meeting of the regular season at 1-1 after 20 minutes with shots even at 12 through one period.

In the 2nd, the home-side strike first early as Conrad Phillips took advantage after a Stamps' defenceman fumbled it at the attacking blue-line and went in alone and beat Foucher over the right pad to give Wayway their first lead at 2-1.

The Stamps' though would quickly respond back as Noah Fladager was left alone in the slot and slip it home five-hole of Tereposky to even it back up. Then just under 3 minutes later, it would be the MJHL's top scorer Haydn Delorme jamming one in to pull the Stampeders' back in front by a goal.

But once again just over a minute later, the Wolverines responded as Mack Belinski's powerplay snipe on Mikael Foucher made it a 3-3 game through 40 minutes.

Mack Belinski added his 2nd of the night, 2:01 into the final frame as he went short side shelf making it 4-3 Wayway.  The Stamps's got the equalizer from Alex Danis, his league leading 6th of the season but once again moments later Logan Wotton on a unbelievable back-pass from Rayman Bassi for his 1st of the season that stood up to be the game winner.

20 year old vet Conrad Phillips added a late empty netter to seal the win.

Wayway G Liam Tereposky turned aside 18 of 22 shots to earn his 2nd win of the season while Mikael Foucher in the Swan goal suffered his first blemish of the season making 33 saves in the loss.

The two teams will play the back-end of the home and home series in Swan River with at 7:00PM MB time puck drop.
