The Battlefords North Stars were the best team all SJHL season, and at the end they came out on top.
The North Stars completed the 4 game sweep of the Flin Flon on Saturday night after a 7-4 win over the Bombers in Game 4 from the Whitney Forum.
Steven Kesslering and Jordan Grill led the way offensively for the North Stars in the deciding game with 2 goals each while Josh Kotai made 44 saves on 48 shots in the win.
Local ties to the North Stars include members of the roster including Moosomin's Marshall Light, Esterhazy's Ashytn Shields and Yorkton product Matt Procyshen, whose a member of the coaching staff.
The North Stars have now advanced to the 2023 Centennial Cup National Junior A Hockey championships that starts May 11th in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba.
