Yorkton Terriers prevail in first Highway 10 battle of SJHL season

SJHL: The Yorkton Terriers struck first in their Highway 10 rivalry with the Melville Millionaires.

Callum Creig made 21 saves while Jeff Hammond chipped in with one goal and one assist to lead the home-side to a 5-1 victory over the Moneymen at the Westland Insurance Arena.

Jaron Desnoyers, Tyler Palin, David Coyle and Tylan Henrikson also scored for the Terriers while Flynn Maxcy scored the lone goal for the Mils.

Melville netminder Loic Morin turned aside 19 of 24 shots in the losing cause.

The Terriers powerplay went 2 of 4 on the night, while the Millionaires struck once on three chances.

The two teams will meet once again on Saturday night at the CN Community Centre in Melville starting at 7:00 PM.

Nipawin 4, La Ronge 5 =========== MJHL: The Swan Valley Stampeders earned a point but fell on the road, 5-4 in overtime to the Neepawa Titans. Colton Alexander led the way for the Titans with two goals, two assists while Dawson McCann, Tim Tychonick and Jace Larkins also scored. Ty Easton, Will Brown, Ben Groome, and Dobie Unrau replied for the Stampeders. The two teams will meet once again in Neepawa on Saturday night.
