Jan. 21st Local SJHL/ MJHL Recap

MJHL:


The Swan Valley Stampeders are now winless in four games in their season series with their division rivals after a 4-1 defeat to the Dauphin Kings on Tuesday night.

After a scoreless first, the Kings scored two quick goals just 2:01 into the second by Gabriel Buguead and Gavin Nemis to give the Kings before Ethan MacTavish cut the deficit with one at 2-1 before the second period buzzer.

The visitors added some insurance in the third off the sticks of Madden Murray and Cayden Glover who helped the Kings win their fourth straight.

Cole Sheffield stopped 24 of 25 shots for the Kings to earn his 21st win of the season, while Stamps’ goalie Rowan made 35 stops in the loss.

The Stampeders return to action beginning a weekend road trip on Friday night in La Broquerie against the Steinbach Pistons.

SJHL: 

Ryder Ringor scored twice including the eventual game winner just 1:23 into the first period to lead the Flin Flon Bombers to a 3-0 road victory over the Melville Millionaires to kick off their four game road trip.


Liam Hunks also scored while Matthew Kieper turned aside just 12 shots for the shutout for the Bombers whose points streak has now reached 22 games. 

Mils netminder Ben Laurette stopped 20 of 23 shots in the losing cause.

The Millionaires return to action on Thursday night as they begin back to back games on the road against the Battlefords North Stars, while the Bombers continue their road on Wednesday night in Estevan against the Bombers.

Jerome Maharaj scored twice to lead the Weyburn Red Wings to a 6-1 victory over the Notre Dame Hounds


Marek Mamic netted two goals, while Dazza Mitchell made 24 saves to help the Humboldt Broncos hammer the Nipawin Hawks 6-1 on the road.
