Terriers fall to Brooks to end 12/13 Season

Despite a tremendous and gutsy effort the Yorkton Terriers had their season come to an end as they fell 1-0 to the Brooks Bandits in the RBC Cup Play In Qualifying Game on Sunday Night.

The game went back and forth throughout the first period with the Terriers hitting two posts, but was definately a tight checking period with the first period ending scoreless after 1 period.

The 2nd period would start out much if the same , with the Terriers beginning the period with the man advantage but they just couldn't get anything past Bandits' goaltender Michael Fredrick. The goose egg would finally break in the goal department but it would go in the favor of Brooks when Mark Logan would squeak one through Dawson MacAuley for his 1st of the tournament and that would stand up as the game winner as the Bandits would lead 1-0

In the third period the Terriers would again begin on the Powerplay with a chance up even it up but the bounces just didnt go the way of the Terriers on this night as even with a couple minutes to go they had the puck on their stick but just couldn't get by the Brooks goalie.

Michael Fredrick would stop 23 shots for the victory while Dawson MacAuley would stop 19 shots in a losing cause.

Brooks will now join Surrey as the 2 West Reps for the RBC Cup beginning on Saturday.

Thank you to Ches, Trent, Casey, Pritch, Lisa , Tyler , the players and the rest of the Yorkton Terriers organization, and fans for the memorable season and for the great ride.

Best of the luck to the 20's Mur, Ponce, Marty, Neibs, Bou, & JJ in your futures, you guys are class acts and great people.

  1. well i guess the magic ran out for the terriers.so did you folks really think the terriers could have beaten the best two teams in the tournment.what a wasted season.when you dont take the guy from out front of your net and letthe guy keep poking the puck and final puts it in your net you desevered to lose.i bet they dont make it next year.

  2. Yes I agree so glad their season is done. And they lose their goalie to Regina Pats. They will not have a good team next year. And if Cassan goes to the Dub who knows what coach they will hire. Maybe Chesney will go back to coaching.

  3. Let the disrespect begin. The "experts" picked us behind N.D., Estevan and Melville in the south. Picked us most likely to be upset in the first round, Melville would win the south and no way we beat HumboLdt. Go ahead, start the "fluke" talk now and we will quietly plan to had you your a** next season.

  4. O smart alect Yorkton Fans. Always being ignorant. It seems you turned the home town boy into one of you guys also. Will see what next year brings. And who is the expert Mike Stackhouse. Even Don Chesney said the Mills were more talented. Unfortunately they did not play for the coach.

  7. Thank you Benny for the great job you did covering all the playoff games. That first round was very hectic for you, you had games almost every night. You were always very nuetral and professional. Probaly no one realizes how difficult doing a Melville/Yorkton Series was for you. You remained neutral no matter what people say. As you can see from comments about the home town boy. As hard as you tried to remain professional others will always see it different. You had an awesome first year and deserve to be commended
