Villafuerte's Heroics gives Mils 2-1 series lead over Swift Current

The longest serving Melville Millionaire was the hero as Ben Villafuerte (pictured above) ripped an RBI single to right field that cashed Tyler Enns from 3rd base to give the Mils a big 3-2 Game 3 victory and 2-1 series lead in the Best of 5 East Final series.

Mils catcher Cam Firth led the way at the plate going 3 for 4 with 3 singles and a RBI, while the red hot Matt Helms, Tyler Enns and Villafuerte each chipped in with 2 hits each.

Right hander and Hurst Texas native Jaime Paxton got the start for the Mils and went 8 strong innings giving up 1 run on 2 hits, he walked 5 while struck out 6 but got the no decision as Jeremy Newton who gave up the game tying single to Taylor Steen in the Top of 9th got the W on the mound.

The Mils will try and book their ticket into the WMBL Finals with a win on home field on Friday night 7:05 at Pirie Field, if they win they will meet the Medicine Hat Mavericks in the WMBL Final as they swept the Okotoks Dawgs with a 13-8 come from behind victory in Game 3.
