Terriers drop 2nd straight on the road to the Estevan Bruins


The Yorkton Terriers lost their 2nd straight to start their SJHL regular season, losing 9-2 to the Estevan Bruins at Affinity Place. 

Bruins would get the offence going first as just 9:46 into the 1st period they would strike on the power play as Turner Ripplinger would walk out and slip one over the left shoulder of rookie starter Ryan Ouellette for his 3rd goal of the season to make it 1-0 for the home-side. They would add to their just 1:06 later and Ripplinger once again beating the Terriers' net minder on the left side to make it a two goal game. The offensive outburst would continue for the Bruins at 12:28 mark of the opening frame as Jack Michell would finish off a nice passing play from Jayden Davis and re-direct in his 1st SJHL goal, to make it 3-0 which would mean the end of the night fro Ryan Ouellette who was relieved for Ben Laidlaw. . But the Terriers would get on the board just 25 seconds later, as long stretch pass from Brendan Mark would find Cody Bruchkowski behind the Estevan defence, who would then find Chantz Petruic who beat Kadin Kilpatrick far side for the Moose Jaw product's 1st marker of 2018/19 to cut the deficit for the visitors in half and make it a 3-1 Bruin lead after 1 period. 

Shots on goal, 15-3 Estevan after 20 minutes. 

In the middle frame, both teams would strike as first TJ Irey would jump on his own rebound and slip it over top of Ben Laidlaw for his 3rd of the season to make it 4-1. The score would stay like that until the final minute of the 2nd when the Terriers would strike on the PP as a bouncing puck would find the stick of Jared Legien back-door and he would make no mistake to make it a 4-2 Bruins lead after 40 minutes.

Shots continued to be in favour of Estevan at 27-13 after 2. 


The 3rd period would be all Bruins' including the first 2 goals of the period just 41 seconds apart in the first couple minutes by Michael McChesney and Isaiah Thomas that pushed it to a 4 goal game. The Bruins would add 3 more before the final buzzer would go off the sticks of Johnny Witzke, Jerzy Martin and Turner Ripplinger who completed the Hat-Trick, to lead them to the home ice win. 

Kadin Kilpatrick stopped 20 shots in the Estevan goal to earn his 1st SJHL victory. Meanwhile for the Terriers, rookie Ryan Ouellette got the start for the Terriers and allowed 3 goals on 7 shots before he was relieved by 19 year old Ben Laidlaw who made 29 saves on 35 shots.

The Terriers' next game will be their home opener on Friday night when they host the Weyburn Red Wings at the Farrell Agencies Arena . Puck drop will be at 7:30.
