Busy weekend for Local Sports

SJHL 


Melville Millionaires/Yorkton Terriers 



The Melville Millionaires split their two games this past weekend.

On Friday night, Colby Entz (pictured above) made 33 saves but the Mils fell on home ice to the defending champion Nipawin Hawks 2-0.

Cole Beamin and former Yorkton Terrier Austen Flaman had the Hawks' goals.

Then on Saturday night, the Moneymen held on for a 5-4 victory over the Yorkton Terriers.

Josh Borynec had 1G 2A to lead the Mils while Aidan Steinke, Max McPeak, Jaden Shewchuk and Tristan Shewchuk also scored.

Colby Entz made 28 saves to get his 1st victory of the season.

Karstin McDonald, Chantz Petruic, Cole Keenleyside and Cody Bruchkowski replied for the Terriers who got 30 saves from Ryan Ouelette in the loss.

The next game for the Melville Millionaires will be on Tuesday night when they visit the Notre Dame Hounds at 8PM while the next action for the Terriers will also be on Tuesday when they entertain the Nipawin Hawks.

Swan Valley Stampeders



The Swan Valley Stampeders won both of their home match-ups this past weekend.

Justin Svenson and Josh Tripp had 2 goals 1 assist on Friday night to lead the Stamps to a 7-4 win over the Winnipeg Blues.

Kasyn Kruse, Quintin Sudom and Jaden Townsned also scored while Michael Davis made 27 saves to earn the victory.

Meanwhile on Saturday, the Stamps got 1G 2A from Matt Osadick (pictured above) and Brad Goethals as they defeated the Blues 7-3.

Michael Davis made 29 saves to earn his 9th victory of the season while Kasyn Kruse, Jaden Townsend, Josh Maucieri and Morgan Venne scored singles for Swan.

The Stampeders' next action will be on Tuesday night when they host the Dauphin Kings. GX94 will broadcast the game with Yorkton Dodge Junior Hockey, pregame begins at 7:20, pxp starts at 7:30 from the Centennial Arena in Swan River.

Waywayseecappo Wolverines

The Wayway Wolverines got the overtime winner on the PP from Morgan Poirier as they defeated the Winkler Flyers 3-2 on Saturday night.

Trygve Many Guns had 1G 1A also for the Wolverines who got their other goal from Michael Heitkamp.

Isaac Labelle earned his 9th victory of the season making 17 saves on 19 shots.

The Wolverines will wrap up their weekend on Sunday when they host the Portage Terriers at 6PM MB time.

(Carrot River will now play Hanley in Semi-Finals on Saturday)

Southey over Porcupine Plain 77-53
(Southey now travels to face Hafford on Saturday for the Semi-Finals)

2A Boys Championships in North Battlefords 

The Yorkton Sacred Heart Saints captured the Provincial title after a 3-2 win over Moose Jaw Central in the Gold Medal game.

3A Boys Championships in Saskatoon 

The Yorkton Regional Raiders fell in the Consolation Championship game, 2-0 to Saskatoon Aden Bowman.
