Oct 20th MJHL/SJHL Local Recap

MJHL 

The Swan Valley Stampeders' won their 3rd straight on Saturday night, hammering the Winnipeg Blues 7-1.

Bradly Goethals led the way for Swan with 2G 1A while Matt Osadick and Quintin Sudom had 1G 1A.

Flynn Perry, Campbell Balk, and Josh Tripp had singles for Swan who got a 20 save victory from Michael Davis.

Griffin Chwaliboga had the lone marker for the Blues.

The Stamps' next game will be on Tuesday night when they visit the Virden Oil Capitals.

Meanwhile,

The Wayway Wolverines for the 2nd straight night lost a close one to the Dauphin Kings this time by a 1-0 score at Credit Union Place.

Wolverines lost 3-2 to Dauphin on home ice on Friday.

Braydn Smelski had the GWG for the Kings while Brennan Kitchen made 24 saves for the shutout.

Issac Labelle made 24 stops on 25 shots in the loss for Wayway.

Wolverines next action will be on Wednesday night when they visit the Neepawa Natives at 7:30PM MB time.

SJHL 

The Yorkton Terriers used a 4 goal third period to lead them to a 5-4 win over the Flin Flon Bombers at the Whitney Forum.

It's the Terriers first win in Flin Flon since February of 2014.

Cody Bruchkowski had 2 goals to pace the Terriers while Jared Legien, Mason Mullaney and Quin Hobbs also scored.

Brandson Hein led the Bombers' offence with his league leading 16th and 17th goals of the season.

Ryan Ouellette made 30 saves on 34 shots to backstop the Terriers to victory.

The Terriers will return to the ice on Saturday night when they visit the Melville Millionaires at 7:30. (This is make up game from the postponement back on Thanksgiving weekend.)


Elsewhere,

The Melville Millionaires dropped a 6-3 road decision to the Humboldt Broncos.

Michael Clarke led the way with 2G 2A for the Broncos in the win.

Josh Borynec, Logan Foster and Jaden Shewchuk scored for the Mils while Colby Entz made 32 saves in the loss.

The Mils next action will be on Tuesday night when they visit the Notre Dame Hounds. GX94 will broadcast the game with Yorkton Dodge Junior Hockey, pregame 7:50 pxp begins at 8PM from the Duncan McNeill Arena.
