Borynec's Hat-Trick leads Millionaires to 4-2 road victory over Yorkton to wrap up 2018
The Melville Millionaires wrapped up the 2018 portion of the schedule on Sunday afternoon with a 4-2 victory over the Yorkton Terriers at the Farrell Agencies Arena.
The Terriers and Mils would exchange chances in the first period on the powerplay but it would be the home side who would get the lone goal as Chantz Petruic would take a back-door feed on the PP from Colby Brandt and make no mistake for his 20th of the season to give Yorkton a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes. Shots favoured the Millionaires 16-8 after 1 period.
The Mils would even it up at 1-1 just 4:51 into the 2nd period as Luke Spadafora would find Josh Borynec (pictured above) back-door and he would put home his 8th of the season. Just a few minutes later, the Mils would strike once again as they would grab their first lead of the night as Daniel Liberty would finish off a nice passing play for his 8th to make it 2-1 and that's where we would sit after 40 minutes. Shots after 2 were 24-17 Melville.
In the 3rd, the road team would add to their lead as a nice tic-tac-toe passing would be finished off by Josh Borynec, his 9th of the year to make 3-1 Mils just 5:07 into the 3rd period. The Parkland County, Alberta product would complete his hat-trick just 2:58 later as he would take nice pass over from Damian Bentz and go in on a breakaway and would beat Ryan Ouellette with a nice snap shot to make it a 4-1 game. The Terriers would add a late powerplay goal from Cody Bruchkowski to make it a two goal game, but thats as close as they would get.
20 year old Colby Entz made 30 saves on 32 Terrier shots to earn his 8th victory of the season while Terriers net minder Ryan Ouellette turned aside 30 shots in the losing cause and had his record drop to 11-8-0-0 on the season.

Melville Millionaires Coaches Show - December 19th edition
In this week's "Future Ford" Melville Millionaires Coaches Show, Head Coach/GM Kyle Adams recaps the home and home against Yorkton and talks about the teams play heading into the Christmas break
Legien's big night leads Terriers to 4-3 road victory over Estevan
The Yorkton Terriers will head into the Christmas break on a winning note after a 4-3 shootout win on Tuesday night over the Estevan Bruins at Affinity Place.
The home-team would strike first just 2:30 into the 1st as Bruins veteran Johnny Witzke would get a nice pass in front and one-time home his 10th of the season to give Estevan a 1-0 lead. The Terriers would respond though just under 4 minutes later, as Jared Legien would walk across the Bruins' blueline and use that laser wrist-shot and beat Grant Boldt over the left pad for his team-leading 27th of the year to even it up at 1-1. That score wouldn't last long though as after a mad scramble in front one of the Terriers would cover the puck in their crease which would draw a penalty shot for the Bruins. On the penalty, rookie defenceman Devan Harrison would snipe home his 2nd beating Ryan Ouellette over the right pad to regain the Bruins their one lead after 20 minutes. Shots after 1 period were 12-9 in favor for Estevan.
In the 2nd, Bryce Platt would give the Bruins their first two goal lead of the night as he would capitalize on a Terrier defensive turnover and the former Regina Pat would beat Ouellette for his 12th marker of the season to make it 3-1. But the Terriers would respond at the tail-end of a lengthy power play as Jared Legien (pictured above) would take a nice feed in the high slot from Chantz Petruic and make no mistake for his 2nd of the night & 28th of the season to cut the Terrier deficit back to just one after 2 periods. Yorkton also led the shot column after 40 minutes at 19-18.
The Terriers would grab the only goal of the third as Aiden Bulych would drive hard to the Bruins' net and re-direct a nice cross ice pass from Branden Klatt past Grant Boldt with just over 4 minutes to go in regulation to tie things up at 3-3.
After overtime solved nothing, the Terriers would get 3 big stops in the shootout from Ryan Ouellette on Bryce Platt, Turner Ripplinger and Michael McChesney and the only goal from Jared Legien to lead them to the extra point.
The Terriers now go into the break with a 20-12-1 record on the season, good for 41 points and 6 point lead now on Estevan for top spot in the Viterra division standings.
Yorkton will have just under a couple weeks off in between games, with their next game happening on Sunday Dec. 30th when they host the Melville Millionaires for 5th Highway 10 battle of the season. GX94 will broadcast the game with Yorkton Dodge Junior Hockey, "Sask Milk" pregame show begins at 1:50, pxp starts at 2PM from the Farrell Agencies Arena.

Melville Prairie Fire holding "Pack the Rink" Night on Wednesday vs. Regina Rebels
The Melville Prairie Fire (SFMAAAHL) are hoping for a nice crowd on Wednesday night when they hold their "Pack the Rink" Night when they host the Regina Rebels from the Horizon Credit Union Center.
Back in early November it was announced by the Saskatchewan Hockey Association that the Prairie Fire hockey club would be dropped from the Female Midget AAA League and sent back down to AA.
Prairie Fire President Kevin Kirkwood says the night is all about rallying up some support for the girls and the club.
"The decision that was made kinda drains you as a player, so we want to show that as a community we will show up and say hey girls we are going to fight this for you and cheer you on."
Kirkwood has been involved with the Prairie Fire organization for a number of years and he says they are a club that won't go down without a fight.
"We just got to make sure we are loud and proud & to make sure our voice is heard and we will fight this until the decision is overturned."
Kirkwood also adds the team has got some great support from former players & coaches, local politicians and first nation communities since the decision was made.
Puck drop will be at 7:30PM and admission to the game is free of charge if you bring in a small toy or non-perishable food item for the Melville Food Bank.
