Jan. 28th Local SJHL/MJHL Recap

 STAMPEDERS 6, TITANS 7 (OT)

The Swan Valley Stampeders earned a point on Friday night but fell 7-6 in overtime to the Neepawa Titans.

The Titans got off to the quick start in the first as they scored the only two goals of the period from Parker Korman and Cameron Trimble to make it 2-0 for the home-side through 1 period.

But the Stampeders woke up in the 2nd as Adam Ward kicked off the party just 6:04 in to get Swan on the board before captain Carter Cockburn took over recording the natural hat-trick in just 2 minutes and 12 seconds to pull the visitors ahead by couple.

Neepawa got within one before the second period buzzer went off as Jaegar LaPointe pulled the Titans within one after 40 minutes.

Swan Valley regained their 2 goal lead early in the 3rd off a short-handed goal from Quinn Mulder but the Titans stormed back with three unanswered from Trimble, LaPointe and  Dallon Wilton to make it a 6-5 Neepawa lead.

But once again cue the comeback for the Stamps as with the extra attacker on the ice, Colin Jennings' seeing-eye wrister beat a screened Emerik Demers for his 1st MJHL goal to tie it up with just over 90 seconds remaining in regulation.

Then in overtime, Cameron Trimble completed the hat-trick and the 4 point night as he sniped home the game winner just 33 seconds into overtime to give his team the important extra point.

Emerik Demers made 17 saves on 23 shots to earn the victory for Neepawa while Stamps' G Dylan Black stopped 24 shots in the SO loss.

The two teams will go right back at it on Saturday as they wrap-up their 8 game season series from Neepawa.
