2015 WHL Bantam Draft Recap





A plenty of local hockey players had their dreams become a reality today as 13 locals had their name called during today's draft.

The day started with Grandview MB product Koby Morrisseau was selected 9th overall by the Spokane Chiefs, while Defenceman Dawson Barteaux of Foxwarren was selected by the Regina Pats 14th overall.

The 2-time league champion Yorkton UCT Terriers had 6 total players picked today led by leading scorer Carson Miller who went in the first round, 21st overall to the Prince Albert Raiders.

3 more Terriers were selected in round 2, led by Kaleb Bulych selected by the Vancouver Giants with the 27th pick, the first of the Taphorn twins to go in Keenan who went 31st to Kootenay while brother Kaeden waited til number 47 when he was picked by the Vancouver Giants.

Terrier forward Brett Kemp also went in round 2 to the Everett Silvertips. Big dman Reid Perpeluk rounded out the Terriers selection, going 114th overall to the Prince George Cougars.

3 Players from the blue and white of the Melville Millionaires were also draft picks starting off with dman Tyler Pryhitka who has become a Regina Pat after going 62nd overall to the Queen City Kids,

His Mils teammates Jevon Schewan, 133rd to Spokane and Rin Beny 184th to Moose Jaw were also picked.

Rounding out the local products Elkhorn's Layne Toder went 85th overall to the Calgary Hitmen and Lane Kirk of Swan River MB, went in the 5th round, 97th overall to the Prince Albert Raiders.

**Also of note, Wayway Wolverines forward & Russell MB product Rylee Zimmer had his WHL rights traded from the Regina Pats to the Moose Jaw Warriors for a conditional pick in 2016 draft.
