Yorkton Terriers looking for new Athletic Therapist/Trainer

The Yorkton Terriers would like to thank Andre Huberdeau for his two years of service to the hockey club as the Terriers Trainer/Equipment Manager. Andre was very committed and dedicated to ensuring that the Terrier player’s needs were always taken care. He was very professional and organized while working well with the teams coaching and medical staff.

Andre joined the Terriers in the fall of 2013. His first season with the hockey club the team captured their second consecutive SJHL Canalta Cup, the Western Canada Cup and the RBC Cup National Championship. Andre will be looking to continue his education in the near future.

The Yorkton Terriers of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) are seeking an individual to serve as the teams Athletic Trainer/Equipment Manager commencing for the 2015-16-hockey season. 
The successful applicant must be a team-oriented individual who is outgoing, organized and willing to work closely with the coaching and medical staff to serve the players needs. The position requires strong organizational and communication skills with a positive attitude and work ethic. Applicants must be able to handle multiple task and responsibilities. The individual will also be required to travel with the team to all road games; travel expenses will be covered by the team. 
Job duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Must be available for first response and injury assessments for all games and practices
  • Working closely with medical staff/team doctors to attend to and assess player injuries, rehabilitation needs and documentation
  • Injury prevention and physical preparation guidelines
  • Communication of injuries to coaching staff and team doctors
  • Management, repair and distribution of players equipment (sticks, gloves, pants, helmets, jerseys, team apparel)
  • Game day setup of dressing room, players benches and team equipment
  • Skate sharpening 
  • Post-practice and post-game laundry
  • Maintaining an inventory and ordering of all team and player equipment related to hockey operations in collaboration with the coaching staff.
This is a great opportunity to gain valuable experience. The organization is willing to help train and advance the right individual. To help offset costs a billet home may be provided should the individual require accommodations in order to address the seasonal nature of the position.
Interested applicants are asked to outline their qualifications. Certified Athletic Therapist, or related program and previous hockey team experience would be an asset. This position requires non-standard hours. Salary will be based on experience and certification. 
Start date for the successful applicant would be late August 2015.
