Terriers lose heartbreaker 6-5 in OT to Estevan

The Yorkton Terriers got a point but lost a thriller on Tuesday night, 6-5 in overtime to the Estevan Bruins at Affinity Place.

The Bruins got off to a hot start in the 1st as Kaelen Holt would finish off a nice back door feed for his 11th of the season to give the home side an early 1-0 lead. It would stay like that until the late stages of the opening frame as Regan Seiferling would one-time home a nice feed in front from Corwin Stevely for his 4th of the campaign to make it 1-1. But just 27 seconds later Matt McNeil would regain the Bruins' one goal lead as he would snipe home his 8th to make it a 2-1 Estevan lead after 1 period.

In the 2nd just 4:32 in, McKenzie Welke would bang home a loose puck for his 2nd of the season to make it 2-2. They would grab their first lead just 1:11 later as Colby Haugen's long wrist would beat Curtis Meger for his 1st SJHL marker to give the Terriers a 3-2 lead. But Lyndon Pastachak would respond for the Bruins with his 7th of the campaign to tie it up at 3-3 after 40 minutes. Shots 28-27 Terriers.

The Terriers would regain their advantage just 0:47 into the 3rd frame as Jordan Ross would bat home his 3rd to make it a 4-3 Terrier lead. But half way through the 3rd Matt McNeil would get his 2nd of the night and 9th of the year to knot it up at 4-4. Then with just over 3 minutes to go, McKenzie Welke would sneak home his 2nd of the night to pull the Terriers in front at 5-4. Josh Rieger would force overtime with just 27 seconds left in regulation hammering one home past Andrew Suriano for his 3rd to make it 5-5.

Kaelen Holt would give the Bruins the extra point with a PP goal in overtime at the 2:51 mark to make it a 6-5 Estevan Bruin victory.

Andrew Suriano made 46 saves on 52 shots for the Terriers in the loss while Curtis Meger made 12 saves on 15 shots in relief of Nathan Alalouf who made 17 saves before he left the game with a lower-body injury.

The Terriers return to action Friday when they head on the road to battle the Battlefords North Stars
