Yorkton Terriers (SJHL) relieve O'Brien of duties; name Hehr Interim Head Coach/GM

The Yorkton Terriers announce the termination of contract with Casey O’Brien as General Manager and Head Coach of the team effective October 31, 2017.

We want to acknowledge Casey’s contributions to the Yorkton Terrier organization.

"The team was underachieving, it just wasn't the right chemistry right now", Terriers President Dave Baron said in a phone interview this morning (Tues)

Casey joined the Yorkton Terrier organization in August, 2011 as Assistant Coach.  Casey contributed to the team’s success on the ice as they captured two division pennants (2013,2014), an SJHL regular season pennant (2014), two league championships (2013,2014), a Western Canada Cup championship (2014) and, culminating with the crown jewel of Junior A hockey, an RBC Cup National Championship in 2014.

Casey took over as the team’s General Manager and Head Coach in September, 2016.

Casey was named the first ever recipient of the SJHL Dwight MacMillan Assistant Coach of the Year award for the 2015/16 season.

On behalf of the Board of Directors, staff and all Yorkton Terrier supporters, we thank Casey for all of his hard work and dedication to the team over the past six years and we wish Casey and his family all the best in their future endeavors
