Swan Valley Stampeders' held annual general meeting on Wednesday night

The MJHL's Swan Valley Stampeders held their annual general meeting in Swan River last night (Wed).

From the meeting financially they had some very sobering results as the team reported a deficit of $80,906 form the 2019/20 season

Cramer Coulthart, who was named new Stamps' President at the meeting taking over for Pat Morden, says there a number of factors involved from
the inability to hold a spring camp, loss of playoff revenue, fundraising falling short thanks in part to the COVID-19 , but he pinpoints one big factor in particular

"I don't think its the expenditure side of the club, I think its definitely on the revenue side and we need to get more people in the stands, we can't rely on a long playoff run each year to balance the budget."
Coulthart who also serves at the clubs governor, adds COVID-19 has also played a role their financials this year like every Junior team in the country.

"It's something you didn't think you'd have to go through, but ya we lost out on playoff revenue, and some summer events like getting people together for golf tournaments or a social so we are just kinda sitting on our hands waiting for some news and hope we can get back to business as usual soon."

Businesses and organizations across the country have applied for different Federal and provincial financial relief programs and thats something that Coulthart says the club has looked into.

"We've looked at every avenue possible, we've looking into as many programs we can and we continue that in the future to help the hockey club out."

Also of note:

--Warren Clark returned to the board after a year absence and has taken over the role of Vice President. Keera Coulthart was announced as the team treasurer, and Brian Gilroy resumes his role as secretary.  Other board members include Trevor Warburton, Pat Morden, Rod Pidskalny, Jarrett Mosiondz, Kim Kosokowsky, Pat Harness, Danielle Gordon-Broome, and Rhonda Mills.
