Stamps escape with a 4-3 victory in Neepawa.

The Swan Valley Stampeders didn't put their best effort on the ice but it was enough as they beat the Neepawa Natives 4-3 on Friday night.

Jagger Thomas would open the scoring just 28 seconds in while Justin Valentino would make it 2-0 SV 8:35 into the 1st. But the Neepawa Natives would respond on the Powerplay at 14:13 to make it 2-1 when Lyndon Soper point shot got passed goalie Nathan Armstrong. But before the end of the period , Landon Peel would make it 3-1.

The Stamps would get a 3 goal lead 11:25 into the middle frame when Kyle Smart got his 10th, but once again Neepawa would strike on the Powerplay as Brayden Cuthbert would reply for the Natives to make it 4-2

Neepawa would get the only goal of the 3rd period as Drake Lindsay scored just 1:02 into the last frame.

Nathan Armstrong making his 2nd start of the season would get his 1st MJHL win stopping 28 of 31 shots while Jeff Stallard stopped 45-49 in a losing cause.

The Stamps were 0-4 on the PP while Neepawa was 2-5.

Newcomer Richard Olson was held pointless in his Stamps debut

Swan will continue their weekend 3 in 3 tonight when they host Virden weather permitting.

While in WayWay, the Wolves were able to get one point but fell 3-2 overtime to the Portage Terriers as Bryce Lipinski scored 4:24 into overtime.

Matthew Miller and Kyle Threndyle scored for the Wolves who got 26 saves from Cory Simons in a losing cause.

They will return to action Tuesday when they host the OCN Blizzard.

The new look Melville Millionares snapped a 5 game slide last night as they defeated the Battlefords North Stars 5-2.

Ian McNulty led the way with a goal and 3 assists in his 1st game back from injury while newcomers Nathan Boyer (2G) and Brennan Ritchie (2A) each had 2 points each in their debut, while Russell Trudeau and Michael Sagen got the other markers and they got 40 saves from goalie Alex Wakaluk in the victory.

The Mils will be in Nipawin tonight.
