Local Saturday Night Recap

The Swan Valley Stampeders won their 2nd straight to start the MJHL season as they beat the Wayway Wolverines 3-2 last night. 

Jordie Valentino, Josh Tripp and Peter Matthews scored for the Stampeders. 

Alex Keena & Rylee Zimmer replied for the Wolverines. 

Brett Evans made his 1st MJHL start making 20 saves on 22 shots while Greg Harney made 20 stops in a losing cause. 

The Stamps next action will be on Tuesday night when they visit the Virden Oil Capitals while the Wolverines host the Dauphin Kings on Tuesday night.

In the SJHL,

The Yorkton Terriers dropped their 3rd straight to start the campaign losing 6-5 to the Kindersley Klippers. 

Brandon Sookro scored twice to lead the offensively while Jordan Evans, Adam Santoro, and Dayton Boutillier also scored for the Terriers. 

Matt Kustra made 33 saves in a losing cause.

The Terriers next action will be on Wednesday when they visit the Estevan Bruins.

The Melville Millionaires are also still winless to start their 2015/16 SJHL season. 

The Mils had a 3-2 lead in the 3rd, but the Melfort Mustangs scored 4 unanswered goals (2 into the empty net) to beat the Mils 6-3. 

Christian Stevens, Dylan Ostertag and Mitch Foyle scored for the Mils while Melville net minder Josh Bykowski stopped 35 in the loss. 

The Mils will head out on the road on Tursday night when they visit the Battlefords North Stars. GX94 will broadcast the game with Yorkton Dodge Junior hockey, Pregame show 7:20 PxP at 7:30.
