Oct. 18th Local Junior A Hockey Recap

Terriers; Millionaires both fall on Friday night 

The Yorkton Terriers dropped their 2nd straight on Friday night losing 6-4 to the La Ronge Ice Wolves.

Kalem Hanlon and Spencer Kennedy led the Ice Wolves with 2 goals apiece while Daylon Mannon and Rowan Barnes chipped in with singles.

Terrier captain Chantz Petruic led the Terriers with 1G 2A while the other goals were scored by Jordan Guiney, Alec Zawatsky and Ryan Granville.

Liam McGarva made 31 stops to earn the victory in the La Ronge goal while Terrier G Phillipe Bond 29 saves in the loss.

The two teams will go right back at it tonight (Sat) for a neutral-site game in Churchbridge with puck drop at 7PM.

Also,

The Melville Millionaires dropped their weekend road-trip, 6-2 to the Flin Flon Bombers.

Luke Spadafora and Payton Jerome scored for the Mils while Kaleb McEachern turned aside 36 of 41 shots in the loss.

Cole Rafuse led the Bombers with 3 goals while Brandon Cianflone, Caleb Franklin and Billy Klymchuk chipped in with singles.

The two teams will meet once again on Saturday at 7:30PM MB time from the Whitney Forum.

Swan Valley; Waywayseecappo are winless on Friday in MJHL 

For the first time in 7 games, the Swan Valley Stampeders weren't able to get the two points.

The Stampeders fell in overtime, 3-2 to the Winkler Flyers.

Jayden McCarthy scored twice including the OT winner for the Flyers who got the other goal from Griffin Leonard.

Nathan Carl and Trevor Schroder replied for the Stamps who got 29 saves from Michael Davis in the loss.

The two teams will do it again on Saturday from the Centennial Arena in Swan River at 7:30PM MB time.


Meanwhile,

The Waywayseecappo Wolverines began their weekend roady on the wrong foot, falling 4-2 to the Steinbach Pistons.

The Pistons were led by Carter Loney who had a Hat-Trick while Rylan Bettens scored the other.

Jaymes Knee and Nick Doyle replied for the Wolverines who got 34 saves from Thomson Phinney in the loss.

The Wolverines will visit the Selkirk Steelers on Saturday night at 6:30PM MB time.
