Sept. 24th Local SJHL/MJHL Recap

 TERRIERS 1, BRUINS 2

The Yorkton Terriers kicked off their 2021/22 season on Friday night with a 2-1 loss on the road to the Estevan Bruins. 

Antoine St. Onge scored early in the 1st to give the Bruins a one goal lead before Caelan Fitzpatrick gave the home team a 2 goal lead early in the 3rd.

Karsten Kruska netted his 1st SJHL goal a short time later but that's as close as the Terriers would get.

Boston Bilous made 25 saves in the Bruins' net to get the win, while Terriers' G Jacob Herman made 35 stops on 37 shots in the loss. 

The two teams will meet for the back-end of the home and home series on Saturday at 7:30PM from the Westland Arena.

Stampeders 1, Blizzard 0

Dylan Black made 30 saves for his 1st MJHL shutout to lead the Swan Valley Stampeders' to a 1-0 win in the shootout over the OCN Blizzard.

Jamie Valentino and Adam Rajsigl scored the goals in the shootout for Swan Valley.

Nick Pineo made 39 saves during regulation and overtime for the Blizzard.

The Stampeders' next game will be on Thursday night when they visit the Wayway Wolverines. GX94 will broadcast the game with the pregame show starting at 7:20, play by play starting at 7:30PM MB time. 


Wolverines 7, Oil Capitals 2 

 The Waywayseecappo Wolverines used 7 different goal scorers as they won their 3rd straight game, a 7-2 decision over the Virden Oil Capitals.

Luke Robson, Caleb Petrie, Andrew Boucher, Logan Wotton, Leyton Smith, Spencer Paplawski and Troy Hamilton all scored for the Wolverines, while Adam Paplawski chipped in with 3 assists. 

Liam Tereposky made 29 of 31 saves for his 3rd win of the season.

The Wolverines will be in Virden to take on the Oil Caps on Saturday.
