Feb. 28th Local SJHL/MJHL Recap

 SJHL 

KLIPPERS 3, TERRIERS 4 (OT) 

For the 2nd straight night the Yorkton Terriers knotted it up late and then got the extra point in overtime. 

Jeff Hammond scored at the 1:24 mark of the extra period to lead the Terriers to a 4-3 win over the Kindersley Klippers on Wednesday night. 

Jaron Desnoyers notched the tying goal with 1:51 left in regulation time while Dustin Renas and David Coyle also scored. 

Nathan Degraves, Cam Perlinger and Russ Demo replied for the Klippers. 

Terrier starter Ethan Farrow turned aside 19 of 22 shots to earn the win. 

Elsewhere, 

The Terriers didn't gain any ground on the 8th place Weyburn Red Wings as Max Monette scored the game winner in OT to lead the Wings to a 5-4 victory over the Nipawin Hawks at the Cage. 

Other game on Wednesday, Aidyn Hutchinson had a 6 point night (4G 2A) to lead the Melfort Mustangs to a 7-4 triumph over the Melfort Mustangs.

MJHL

KINGS 4, STAMPEDERS 1 

In front of over 800 students & staff at the Centennial Arena, the Swan Valley Stampeders drop a 4-1 decision to the visiting Dauphin Kings in their annual School Kids game in Swan River. 

Ian Ness scored the lone goal for the Stampeders, while Alex Senf scored twice and Havril Simchuk & Cayden Glover replied for the Kings. 

Elias Giaccari-Dimitriou made 43 stops on 47 shots in the losing cause. 

The Stampeders return to action on GX94 on Friday night visiting the Neepawa Titans.
