Feb. 7th SJHL Recap


The Yorkton Terriers got off to a slow start a couldn't recover on Wednesday night falling 6-2 on the road to the Kindersley Klippers.

For the 2nd straight game, the Terriers gave up the opening goal as 4:21 in, Austin Osiowy's point shot got deflected in front for his 5th of the season to make it 1-0 Kindersley early on.

Then just 2:27 later the Klippers made it 2-0 as Brock Mueller found a loose puck in front and beat a screened Ethan Farrow for his 7th of the campaign and that's where we sat through 1 period.

Shots through 20 minutes: 9-5 Kindersley.

The Klippers added to their lead with 7:17 left in the 2nd as Nathan Degraves fed Logan Linklater with a nice dish in front and he one-timed home his 13th of the season to make it a three goal game.

Yorkton got on the board though just 3:11 later as Dustin Renas sent a puck on net and it hit a couple Klipper defenders in front then over top the Kindersley goaltender and in for his 5th to cut the Terriers deficit to two. 

But the home-side responded again quickly with two more before the end of the 2nd as Tylin Hilbig and Zak Anderson pushed the Klippers lead to 5-1 after 40 minutes.

Shots 24-12 through 2 periods.

Jeff Hammond got the Terriers within three early in the 3rd finishing off a nice passing play from Anthony Domina to make it 5-2 but another response this time from Klips' F Alex Mack put the game out of reach for good.

Kindersley G John MacPherson won his 2nd straight start making 23 saves on 25 shots, while Ethan Farrow started for the Terriers and allowed 5 goals on 24 shots before being relieved by AP Luke McKechnie, who allowed one goal on 8 shots.

The Terriers' return to action on Saturday night hosting the Weyburn Red Wings, while the Klippers look for their third straight win on Friday at home vs. Nipawin.
