Terriers fall in the Battlefords to finish 3 in 3

The Yorkton Terriers (12-5-0-1) fell to the hometown Battlefords North Stars (7-8-0-0) 6-4 but were able to take 4 out of a possible 6 points over their 3 games in less than 48 hours over the weekend in Kindersley and North Battleford.

Derek Falloon opened the scoring for the Terriers 7:31 into the game with his 5th but just over 3 minutes later Austin Evans got his 1st of 2 on the night to tie it up at 1 after 1 period.

Shots: 10-4 NB

The teams would exchange goals in the 2nd period as well as Tyler Giebels 11th of the season while Austin Evans got his 2nd of the game to even the game after 40 minutes at 2.

Shots: 15-8 NB

There would be 6 goals scored in the third period, 4 of them by the Stars. Justin Waskewitch would make it 3-2 early in third on the period but the Terriers Nathan Murray would even the hockey game again with his 5th. But the Stars would get the next two markers as Spencer Gosselin and Brandon Long (GWG) would reply for Battlefords. The Terriers would cut the deficit to one with 2:28 to go when Giebel got his 2nd of game, and league tying 12th goal but the Stars would ice it into the empty net with 3 seconds to go as Josh Betinol put It home.

Connor Barrie who returned from a lengthy absence because of injury an he stopped 30 of 35 shots but was tagged with the loss, while 20 year old Connor Creech stopped 26 for the win.

The Melville Millionaires had their winning streak snapped at 7 games after falling 5-4 to the visiting Humboldt Broncos. Russell Trudeau (2), Sean Aschim, and Alex Elliot scored for the Mils. Alex Wakaluk was tagged with the loss, stopped 38 shots.

The Mils return to action on Friday in La Ronge against the Icewolves.

The WayWay Wolverines dropped a 7-1 decision to the hometown Winnipeg Blues. Russell Turner gets the lone tally for the Wolverines. Riley Feser 22 saves but was tagged with the loss.

The Wolves will be in Neepawa on Friday 7:20/7:30 on GX

  1. To the Yorkton Terriers: please decide on 2 goalies and drop the third one. Don't do this again!! Did Kale Thompson deserve to sit on the bench for 3 consecutive games???
