Stamps snap losing streak with win over Wayway

The Swan Valley Stampeders snapped a 3 game losing streak while moving into sole possession of 3rd place In the Sherwood division In the process as they defeated the Way Way Wolverines 5-3 on Wednesday night.

The Stamps would come out with a great start in the first period and would get rewarded as Mitch Deacon (who left later in the hockey game with an undisclosed injury) would open the scoring for the Stamps to give them a 1-0 lead after 1 period.

In the 2nd it would be Wayway coming out with the fast start as they would get 2 in 2:14 to start the 2nd as Drake Bodie and Craig Fournier would give the Wolverines their first lead at 2-1. But Swan wouldn't back down as they would get 2 of their own right back to regain their 1 goal lead at 3-2 as Max Provencher (goal of the year candidate) and Nick Erb would find the back of the net. The Stamps were not done their as Seth Chumley would make it 4-2 Swan with his 1st goal In the MJHL.

It would be all Wolverines for most of the final period and they would make it interesting with just under 10 minutes to go as Robert Briem would jam one through Nathan Armstrong to cut the Stamps lead to 4-3. In desperation in the final minute the Wolverines would pull their goal but it would Be Stamps captain Justin Valentino sealing it into the empty net for a 5-3 Swan Valley victory.

Nathan Armstrong stopped 35 of 38 shots for his 5th victory of the season while Mathieu Verrault stopped 31 In a losing.

The Stamps will return to action back on the road on Saturday when they visit the Virden Oil Capitals at 7:30 while Wayway returns to action Tuesday in OCN.
