The Melville Millionaires won their 3rd straight to start the 2014-15 SJHL season as they defeated the Humboldt Broncos 2-1 on Tuesday night.
The first period was not the start the Mils would've wanted as the Broncos controlled much of the early part of the opening frame leading in the shot column 6-0 but goaltender Josh Bykowski was very solid early in his 1st SJHL start as he kept his team in it with a couple of timely saves. The Mils were able to break through on the power play on their first shot of the game, Lane Harbor snapped home his 2nd goal of the season to give the Mils a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes.
In the 2nd, the Broncos despite being behind came out hard in the middle frame and they would be rewarded for their efforts as Michael Korol would deflect home a power play goal past goalie Josh Bykowski for his 1st SJHL goal to tie things up at 1-1 through 2 periods.
It would be a period of up n downs for the Mils as they would start off slow once again in the 3rd, then would pick up the place later on and that's when Reed Murray would go top shelf on Brandon Holtby for the game winner to give the Mils a 2-1 road win.
19 year old Josh Bykowski (pictured above) stopped 37 shots for the win in his 1st SJHL start for the Mils while Brandon Holtby made 24 saves in a losing cause.
The Mils go right back at it on Wednesday night when they host the Battlefords North Stars at 7:30 from the HCUC.
