Tough Friday Night for Local Junior A Teams

The Yorkton Terriers suffered their first regulation loss of the 2014/15 season dropping a 4-2 decision to the visiting Melfort Mustangs.

Daylan Gatzke and Josh Ellis chipped in with the goals for the Terriers in the loss. 

Matt Kustra was very solid despite the defeat stopping 30 shots while Melfort got 17 saves from Jack Romanuik for the win. 

Terriers will go right back at it tomorrow night when they visit the Nipawin Hawks at 7:30 from the Cage.

Over in the MJHL,

The Swan Valley Stampeders started their 3 game roady on the wrong foot with a 4-1 loss to the Steinbach Pistons.

Braeden Pearl notched the lone goal for the Stamps who got 29 stops from Graham Hunt in the loss.

Stamps will continue tomorrow night in Winnipeg.

The Wayway Wolverines also lost on Friday night, as they were beat 7-3 by the Winnipeg Blues. 

Robert Briem, Johl Swedlo and Alex Keena scored in the losing cause for the Wolverines. 

Mitch Wiebe was busy in goal for Wayway stopping 30 of 36 shots. 

Wayway continues their road trip in Winkler on Saturday night.

  1. well what to think of this year team is pretty weak. they the worst power play and have lots of work to do in that department. they have to be a lot better if they want to compete for another championship.
