Notre Dame Hounds add former Millionaire as Assistant Coach

(Notre Dame Hounds Press Release)

The Notre Dame Hounds are pleased to announce that they have added former SJHL (Estevan, Melville) player Bear Trapp as an Asst Coach. Bear comes to the Hounds as an experienced Jr A (Estevan, Melville), NCAA Div 1 (Sacred Heart) and professional (ECHL) hockey player. Trapp was a 2nd team All Star in his last year in the SJHL and was the AHA Rookie of the Year in 2006 as a member of the Sacred Heart (Fairfield, CT) University Pioneers. He also was nominated or won other numerous awards as a member of Sacred Heart's hockey team, including:  AHA All Rookie Team 2006; Sacred Heart University Freshman Male Athlete of the Year 2006; AHA All Tournament Team 2007; AHA Second Team All-Star 2008; Hobey Baker Nominee 2007, 2008.

"Adding someone with the playing acumen Bear has will be a nice fit to our team. He has played where many players say they would like to be Division 1 hockey", said Head Coach/GM Clint Mylymok.  "Bear was a very talented player in the SJHL and university. Having him on the ice and on the bench with our players will be extremely beneficial. He shares the same goals we have as a program, which is helping guide players to the next step of playing college hockey in Canada or the U.S."

Bear currently works in the Private Investment industry for Raintree Financial Solutions out of Regina, and is looking forward to getting involved with the coaching aspect of hockey.

"I am really looking forward to getting involved again at the SJHL level, with a league that did a lot for me.  I am excited about sharing my passion, knowledge, and contact base with the kids in our program.  I am thankful to Clint for the opportunity to get back with the SJHL and look forward to helping build a winning program at ND."

The Hounds kick off training camp September 5.
