MacDonald; Johnson net 3 points each to lead Swan Valley over Wayway 5-4

The Swan Valley Stampeders got back on the winning train as they captured their 4th win of the season with a 5-4 victory over the Wayway Wolverines on Tuesday night.

It was a slow start to the opening frame for both sides, as both teams tried to get their feet back from the Thanksgiving break, and it would stay like that until the 11:37 of the 1st when the red hot Johl Swedlo would bang home his 6th goal of the season to give the Wolverines a early 1-0 lead. But then that would kind of wake up the Stamps as they would then come back with 2 goals in 48 seconds from Bo Sigurdson and Carter Johnson (Pictured above left) to give the visiting Stamps a 2-1 lead through 20 minutes.

The 2nd period action would begin with another powerplay goal this time Braydon MacDonald (pictured above right) would deflect home a Jordan Valentino point shot past goalie Mitch Wiebe for his 6th goal of the season to give the Stamps a 2 goal lead at 3-1. But before the buzzer for the 2nd period the Wolverines would cut the Stamps lead in half as Swedlo would knock home his 2nd of the night and team leading 7th goal of the season to make it a 3-2 Swan Valley lead after 2 period.

The Wolverines would take over the play right from drop of the puck to start the 3rd and they would be credited for their efforts as Robert Briem would rip home his 2nd goal of the year to even things up at 3-3.But then Carter Johnson on a weird one after a mad scramble in front of the Wolverines net would knock home his 2nd of the evening to regain the Stamps their 1 goal lead at 4-3. Just 3:24 later, the line MacDonald, Johnson and Tristin Mullin would click again as Johnson would feed MacDonald for an easy tap in for his 2nd of the game to push the Swan lead to 5-3. When everyone thought it was over, Matt Miller would make things really interesting as with just 29 seconds left as the Wayway dman would rip home a point shot for his 1st but that's as far as they would get as the Stamps held on to defeat the Wolverines 5-4.

Graham Hunt turned aside 26 shots for the win in goal while Mitch Wiebe made 22 saves in the losing cause.

The Stamps next action will be on Friday when they host the Winnipeg Blues, while Wayway will start a 2 game road trip also on Friday in Selkirk.
