Martin Shines as Mils double up Terriers 2-1

The Melville Millionaires snapped their 5 game winless streak and got their 4th win of the season as they defeated their Highway 10 rivals the Yorkton Terriers 2-1 on Friday night from the FAA.

It was a pretty good start to the opening period for the hometown Terriers as they had a lot good opportunities but Mils goaltender Trevor Martin, in his 2nd start as a Mil stood tall early on. The best chance the Mils would get in the opening frame was with 3 seconds left when Captain Allen Kilback would be tripped down and was rewarded a penalty shot, but he would unsuccessful as he was denied by the left pad of Terriers netminder Dawson MacAuley to make it a scoreless after 1 period.

In the 2nd, it would be the Terriers drawing first blood as Zack Zadarozniak would finish off a nice individual effort to notch his 1st of the season to make it an early 1-0 Terrier lead. But just 3:53 later, the Mils would get the equalizer as Allen Kilback's wrister would sneak through MacAuley and into the back of the net for the Mils Captains' 2nd of the season to tie things up at 1-1. Then it would be the Mils getting their first lead of the night, as Landon Farrell would gobble up a loose puck on the rebound a jam it in for his team leading 4th of the season to give the Moneymen a 2-1 lead through 40 minutes.

In the 3rd it would more of the same, back and forth action with both teams getting their fair share of opportunities especially the Terriers' late as they were pressing for that tying goal, but were unsuccessful in doing so to lead the Mils to a 2-1 victory and their 4th win of the season.

18 year old Trevor Martin was sensational for the Mils making 37 saves for his 1st SJHL win, while Dawson MacAuley made 28 saves in a losing cause.

These two teams will play the back end of the home and home tomorrow night (Sat) at the Horizon Credit Union Center in Melville at 7:30.

  1. where to start they where doing most of the shooting but couldn't hit the net half the time all game long and you cant win games if you cant put the puck in the net and your powerplay needs a lot off work too.you got to do something if the terriers want to get back in the lead of mils for first place again.look out for estervan they are only a point behind.
