Stampeders' Hykawy commits to University of Victoria

The Swan Valley Stampeders are pleased to announce the commitment of 1993-born defenceman Dylan Hykawy to the University of Victoria Vikings, for the 2014-15 BC Intercollegiate Hockey League (BCIHL) season.
Dylan joins the Vikes following a Junior A career in the Manitoba Junior Hockey, ending with the Swan Valley Stampeders. The 6-1, 200 lb defenceman will pursue a Bachelor of Science at the University of Victoria beginning this fall.
“Dylan will have an immediate impact with the Viking program, I’m sure,” Swan Valley Head Coach / GM Erik Petersen. “He is a solid two-way, defenceman and was a key member of the Stamps, the past two seasons. Dylan is the type of student-athlete we are proud to have had in the Stampeder family, and we are happy on Hyk’s behalf, that he has the earned this opportunity to continue his hockey development, and at the same time pursue his scholastic goals. The Stampeders wish to thank Dylan for his contributions in the Valley, and wish him the best of luck in the future. ”
During his career in the MJHL, Hykawy racked up 62 points (15g-47a) and 217 penalty minutes in 155 games during his three-year MJHL career.
In the 2013-14 season, Hykawy posted 32 points (6g-26a) along with 90 penalty minutes in 54 games for the MJHL’s Swan Valley Stampeders. Hykawy’s 32 points last season ranked seventh amongst defencemen in the MJHL while he was also named the Stampeders’ Scholastic Player of the Year.
