Saturday Night Recap

The Wayway Wolverines got a big victory on the road last night as they defeated the OCN Blizzard 5-2.

George Spilchal led the way with 2G 1A while Montana Tanner, Alex Keena & Neil Woolfrey got singles for the Wolverines. Mitche Wiebe once again was solid stopping 28 shots in the victory. 

Wayway is still 2 points back of Dauphin for 8th place, while they do have a game in hand which will be when they host the Virden Oil Capitals 7:20 pregame, PxP at 7:30 on GX94 with Yorkton Dodge Junior Hockey.

Also in the MJHL, 

The Swan Valley Stampeders are now 1-1 on their 3 game roady as they were doubled up by the Steinbach Pistons. 

Tristan Mullin and Colton Brausen scored for the Stamps while Lasse Petersen made 54 saves in the losing cause. 

The Stamps are still 4 points clear of the Selkirk Steelers for 6th in MJHL standings, but Steelers do have a game in hand. 

Swan Valley will finish up their roady in Winnipeg tonight visiting the Blues at 6:30.

Over in SJHL both of our local teams were shutout on Saturday.

First off, the Melville Millionaires lost their 4th straight as they were blanked in Weyburn by the Red Wings. 

The Red Wings scored all 4 of the goals in the first period led by Aiden Teilborg who lead the way with a 2G 1A performance.

Trevor Martin got the start for the Mils and was yanked after allowing 2 goals on 5 shots then Josh Bykowski went the rest of the way and made 26 saves on 28 shots in the Mils net. 

The Mils will finish off their regular season with a pivotal home and home series next Friday and Saturday when they take on the Estevan Bruins. Bruins are one point behind the Mils with a game in hand and that game will be tonight when they visit Notre Dame. 


Meanwhile,

Carson Bogdan put together another impressive performance for the Yorkton Terriers stopping 29 shots but it was in a losing cause as they fell 1-0 to the Flin Flon Bombers. 

Alex Smith had the lone goal for the Bombers while Adam Beukeboom made 38 saves for the shutout. 

The Terriers have 2 more game left in season starting Wednesday when they host Melfort on GX94.
