Mils get win streak snapped as they fall in Flin Flon

The Melville Millionaires had their 4 game winning streak snapped as they were blanked 3-0 by the Flin Flon Bombers.

The first period was the most even period of the 3 as both teams had their fair share of chances but it was scoreless after 1 period. 

In the early stages of the 2nd the even play would continue but it would be the Bombers converting and getting on the board as Brock Hounsell would make it a 1-0 lead. It would stay like that until just under 2 mins to go then it would be Austin Calladine getting his 1st of 2 on the night to give the Bombers a 2-0 lead after 40 mins. 

The third would be the Mils best period as they had many chances to make it a 1 goal lead and then they would get a power play but during that man advantage Adam Koopman would be penalized with a 5 min major for boarding and during that Bomber power play they would convert and Calladine would get his 2nd of the night to make it a 3-0 Bomber final.

Devin Buffalo stopped 34 for the shutout while Isaiah Plett stopped 31 in a losing cause.

Mils will play their 4th game in 6 nights on  Sunday when they host Notre Dame 6:00 at the HCUC

Also in the SJHL,

The Yorkton Terriers moved 4 points ahead of the Mils as they shutout Nipawin 3-0 at the FAA. 

Tayler Thompson led the way with a couple shorthanded goals while Josh Ellis chipped one into the empty net for the other. 

Kale Thomson stopped 29 Shota for his 4th shutout of the season. 

The Terriers will be in Estevan on Tuesday. Pregame at 7:20 on GX94. 

Mils start roady with a wild win in La Ronge

The Melville Millionaires won their 4th game in a row as they came all the way back to defeat the La Ronge Ice Wolves 6-5 in overtime.

It wasn't the start the Mils were looking for as they were very sloppy and not into it in the 1st period and the Ice Wolves would convert on their opportunity as a couple of former Mils players Michael Sagen and Rhett Kehoe (SH) would give La Ronge a early 2-0 after 20 minutes of play.

Owen LaClare would give the Ice Wolves an early 3-0 lead just 45 seconds into period number 2 with his 13th goal. But just 45 seconds later Tyson Predinchuk (pictured above)  would get his 12th of the season and 1st of 3 on the night to make it once again a 2 goal hockey game. But La Ronge would come back with 2 more of their own off the sticks of LaClare and Cole Golka to give the Ice Wolves a commanding 5-1 lead. But the Mils would begin to get their legs under the name and start skating and they would be awarded as Matt Carr & Joseph Sutherland would both notch their 1st SJHL goals to cut the Mils deficit to only 5-3 after 2 periods.

The Mils comeback would continue early in the 3rd as Predinchuk would get his 2nd of the night and 13th of the season to make it 5-4. It would stay like that until 1:05 left in regulation and with the goalie pulled as Predinchuk would get hat trick goal to complete the comeback and tie it at 5-5 going into overtime.

Mils continue their strong play into the extra frame, and with just 19 seconds remaining Colin Mospanchuk would bounce a puck in from behind the goal line of a Ice Wolves' dman skate and past Tyler Fuhr to give the Mils 6-5 overtime victory.

Isaiah Plett stopped 26 of 31 shots for the win while Tyler Fuhr turned aside 31 of 37 in a losing cause.

The Mils will finish off the 2 game roady on Friday (tonight) when they travel to the Whitney forum to take on the Flin Flon Bombers. Pregame 7:20, pxp at 7:30 on GX94

Stamps; Mils both win 3rd straight on Tuesday

The Swan Valley Stampeders won their 3rd straight and moved into sole possession of 2nd in the Sherwood division with a 4-3 win over the Wayway Wolverines. 

Nic Erb, Colton Brausen, Dylan Favell and Max Flanagan with his league leading 24th (also named MJHL Player of the Month for November earlier today) all scored for the Stamps. Nick Schreiner (2) and Drake Bodie replied for the Wolverines. 

Lasse Peterson stopped 20 of 23 shots for his 1st MJHL win while Mitch Wiebe made 30 saves in a losing cause. 

The Stamps will visit the Neepawa Natives on Friday while Wayway is in Winnipeg.

In the SJHL, 

The Melville Millionaires used 7 different goal scorers as they defeated the Notre Dame Hounds 7-4 for their 3rd consecutive victory. 

Colin Mospanchuk, Kelvin Walz, Dylan Ostertag, Landon Farrell, Ashton Clark, Reed Murray and Eric Meyer were the goal scorers for the Mils while Isaiah Plett stopped 24 of 27 shots for the win. Johnathan Loeffler stopped 2 of 3 in brief appearance for the Mils. 

The Mils will begin a 2 game Northern Roady in La Ronge against the Ice Wolves before visiting Flin Flon on Friday. Both games will be on GX94, pregame show 7:20, PXP at 7:30. 

Stamps/ Wolverines Broadcast Postponed

Local December 1st Deals

The Melville Millionaires trade Alex Devillier & Chris Stovall to Campbelton of Maritime Junior Hockey league for Futures.

The Millionaires also acquire '95 Born dman Zach Fowles from the Okotoks Oilers of the AJHL. The 6'1" 214 pounder was pointless in 4 games with Okotoks. He played at the Edge Prep school last year. 

The Swan Valley Stampeders have traded 20 year old defenseman Luke Fenske to the Steinbach Pistons for future considerations. Fenske was acquired in the Mitch Deacon deal earlier this week from Whitecourt. 

Successful Saturday Night

The Yorkton Terriers got back on the win track tonight as they shutout the Melfort Mustangs 3-0 at the FAA.

Josh Ellis scored 2 goals (both into the empty net)  to lead the way for the Terriers while Devon McMullen notched the other for the Terriers. 

Kale Thomson stopped 23 for his 3rd shutout of the season. Terriers return to the ice Friday when they host Nipawin 7:30 FAA.

The Melville Millionaires made it a clean sweep of their 2 game Northern roady as they dumped the Flin Flon Bombers 5-3 at the Whitney Forum. 

Kelvin Walz, Colin Mospanchuk, Alex Devillier, Cole Berreth and Reed Murray all scored for the Mils while Isaiah Plett stopped 27 shots for the victory. 

The Mils return to home ice on Tuesday when they entertain Notre Dame 7:30 HCUC.

The Swan Valley Stampeders won their 2nd straigh in a big way as they defeated the Neepawa Natives 5-0. 

Carter Johnson and Nic Erb both led the way in the goal department with 2 goals each, while Max Flanagan scored the other. Max Provencher chipped in with 3 assists. 

Nathan Armstrong turned aside 22 shots for his 1st MJHL shutout.
