Flanagan with a couple to lead Swan Valley Past OCN 5-2

The Swan Valley Stampeders got back on the win track with a 5-2 win over the OCN Blizzard.

The Stamps would open the scoring just 4:31 into the 1st period as he would get his league leading 30th goal of the season to give the Stamps an early 1-0 lead. But just 3:14 later, the Blizzard would get the equalizer as Grant Valiquette would get his 15th goal of the season to tie it up at 1-1. It would stay like that until 16:06 mark of the 1st period when Flanagan would get his 2nd of the night and 31st of the season to regain the Stamps one goal lead at 2-1. Before the 1st period buzzer would go off Jagger Thomas would notch his 3rd of the year to give Swan a 3-1 lead after 20 minutes.

The teams would go back and forth in the 2nd period, and both would have some glorious opportunities but none could convert and it would remain 3-1 after 2 periods.

In the 3rd, the Stamps would increase their lead to 4-1 at the 11:13 mark when Bo Sigurdson would get his 6th goal of the season. The Blizzard would make it interesting as they would cut the lead to 2, as Chris Kravchuk long shot from the point would hit the back of the net behind Graham Hunt to make it 4-2 Swan. But that's as close as they would get as BJ Avery would get one more for good measure, his 1st of the season to give the Stamps a 5-2 victory.

Graham Hunt stopped 27 of 29 shots for the win in goal while Alex Henry made 42 saves in a losing cause.

The Stamps now move 4 points clear of the Blizzard for 3rd in the Sherwood. Their next game will be on Monday when they visit Dauphin 7:20/7:30 on GX94 from Dauphin's Credit Union Place.
