Mils' 2 game win streak snapped as they fall at home to the Bruins

The Melville Millionaires had their 2 game winning streak snapped on Tuesday night as they dropped a 3-2 decision to the visiting Estevan Bruins.

In the 1st period, the play would go back and forth with both teams having some very good chances, but it would be the Estevan Bruins drawing first blood as it would be the SJHL's leading scorer Austin Daae getting his 29th goal of the season to give the Bruins a 1-0 lead over the Mils after 1 period of play. Shots on goal 8-7 in favor of the Mils.

The Estevan Bruins would increase their lead to 2 goals just 3:11 into the middle feed, as Connor McKenzie would just mop up a loose puck in front and get it past goaltender Isaiah Plett for his 1st SJHL goal to give the Bruins a 2-0 lead. But then from then the Mils would take control of the middle frame as they would pepper the Bruins, and finally get rewarded for their efforts as on the PP, Simon Genereux, the reigning SJHL Dman of the Week would finish off a nice feed and put it past Matt Gibeny for his 3rd goal of the season to cut the Bruins lead in half at 2-1. Before the end of the 2nd period, the Bruins would regain their 2 goal lead as the Mils would turn it over just at the Bruins blueline and Lyndon Pastachak would lead an odd man rush and slip it over the right pad of Isaiah Plett for his 6th goal of the season to give Estevan a 2 goal, 3-1 lead after 40 minutes.

The Mils would start off with some fight in the 3rd period like any team would be trying to come from behind, but would either get turned away by Gibney, or the Bruins who did a great job of turning aside shots in their own zone, would block a Mils shots. But the Mils would get even some more life with just 3:02 remaining as the reigning SJHL Player of the Week, Allen Kilback would get his 6th goal in as many games and 15th of the season to move the Mils within 1 but that's as close as they would get as they fell 3-2 to the visiting Bruins.

Matt Gibney turned as 25 Melville shots for the victory while Isaiah Plett had 18 saves in a losing cause.

The Mils will look to start a new streak on Friday night when they host the Nipawin Hawks at 7:30 from the HCUC.
