Terriers win their 6th straight, 3-1 over Melville

The Yorkton Terriers won their 6th straight game and pulled even with the Melville Millionaires for top spot in the Viterra division with a 3-1 victory over the Mils on Friday night.

It would be the Mils opening the scoring the 1st period as Cole Berreth would finish off a nice passing play started by Landon Farrell for his 3rd goal of the season to make it an early 1-0 Mils lead. The rest of the period though would be controlled by the Terriers as they had all kinds of chances but Isaiah Plett shut the door to give Melville a 1-0 lead after 1 period.

In the 2nd period, the play would even out more, and then the Terriers would get the equalizer as Tyler Giebel would finish off a beauty passing of their own for his 12th to make 1-1. Then just 7:55 later, the Terriers would get their first lead of the night when Kailum Gervais would make a nice move around Adam Koopman and slip it five-hole on Isaiah Plett for his 9th to give the Terriers a 2-1 lead after 40 minutes.

In the 3rd period, the Mils down a goal would definitely provide lots of pressure trying to get that equalizer, but just couldn't get anything past Kale Thomson. Chase Norrish would ice it into the empty net in the final minute to give the Terriers a 3-1 win, their 30th of the season.

Kale Thomson stopped 30 shots for his 25th win of the season while Isaiah Plett stopped 28 shots in a losing cause.

The rematch, and the 8th and final installment of the Highway 10 battle in the regular season will go on Saturday at the FAA 7:30 puck drop.
