Saskatchewan has its best finish at a Brier since 2008 thanks to a bronze medal performance from Saltcoats' born skip Steve Laycock (pictured above). The Saskatoon Nutana based foursome posted a 7-5 win over Brad Gushue and Newfoundland in the bronze medal game. The game's turning point came in the 3rd end with Saskatchewan facing a house full of Newfoundland rocks but as he had done so often during the week Laycock came up big on his last and Gushue was light on a draw for a steal of two.
The victory marks the highest finish for Saskatchewan since
Simmons was eliminated in a semi-final in 2008. Laycock, Muyres, second Colton
Flash and lead Dallan Muyres take home 35 thousand dollars for the win.
