Wolverines drop final reg. Season game, 3-2 to Selkirk

The Wayway Wolverines finished off their regular season portion of their schedule on a losing on home ice on Sunday afternoon 3-2 to the Selkirk Steelers.

The Wolverines would have to happy with their effort in the 1st period, as they dominated the opening period, especially the opening 10 minutes but they just won't able to convert on their chances. Then shortly after a Wolverine PP, the Steelers would get on the board as Jesse Miller would split the D and go five hole on Brandon Holtby to make it a 1-0 Steeler after 20 minutes.

It wouldn't take long for the Wolverines to even things up as just 1:03 into the 2nd period, George Spilchal with a beauty of a shot would go top shelf on Teagan Sacher for his team leading 25th goal of the season to tie things up at 1-1. But that score would be short lived as Ty Kraus just 1:32 later would regain the Steelers 1 goal lead at 2-1. Brock Paddock would answer back again for the Wolverines with his 7th to tie things up at 2-2. But the game winner for the Steelers would come at the final second of the 2nd period as Justin Derlago's long shot from just outside of the Wayway blue line would beat Holtby for his 24th to make it 3-2 Steelers, and even after a push back in the 3rd including a good effort in the final minute but Waywayseecappo's comeback would come up short to give the Steelers a big 3-2 win.

Teegan Sacher put together another solid game making 26 saves for the win while Brandon Holtby also stopped 26 in the loss.

The Wolverines next action will be on Thursday when they host the Dauphin Kings for Game 1 of their Best of 3 Survivor Series. Game time is at 7:30 from Wayway. Game 2 will take place Saturday in Dauphin while if necessary Game 3 is Sunday back in Wayway.

Sticking with the MJHL down in Winkler,

The Swan Valley Stampeders snapped their 3 game slide with a 3-2 win on the road over the Winkler Flyers.

Colton Brausen got the game winner on the powerplay in the 3rd period while Tristan Langan and Braydon MacDonald also scored for the Stamps. Graham Hunt made 31 saves for the victory in goal.

The Stamps will just need a single point on Tuesday night in their final regular season game on Tuesday night when they visit the Neepawa Natives. We will have that game on GX94, with Yorkton Dodge Junior hockey Pregame 7:20 PxP at 7:30 from the Yellowhead Center in Neepawa.
