Terriers drop 2nd straight, 3-2 in Melfort on Wednesday

The Yorkton Terriers got only 1 out of a possible 4 points on their 2 game road as they lost on Wednesday night, 3-2 to the Melfort Mustangs at the Northern Lights Palace.

After a scoreless 1st period, just 9:10 into the middle frame Mustang forward Rylan Freed would get a clear-cut breakaway and go five-hole on Matt Kustra for his 4th of the season to give his team an early 1-0 lead. But just a short time later Adam Santoro would capitalize on a miscue by Melfort goalie Evan Plotnik and wrapped it around into the empty net for 7th of the season to tie things up at 1-1. But just 2:08 later, the Mustangs would regain that 1 goal lead as reigning SJHL MVP Travis Mayan would bang home his 32 goal of the season to make it a 2-1 game after 40 mins.

In the 3rd it would stay a one goal game until just over 4 minutes to go as the 'Stangs power play would convert as Mayan would rip a cannon past Kustra for his 2nd of the night to give the home team a 3-1 lead. The Terriers would cut it within one as Jordan Evans' 13th goal of the season would come with just 6 seconds to go but thats as close as they would get as the Mustangs won their 26th game of the season 3-2 over the Terriers.

Evan Plotnik wasn't a whole lot busy in the Melfort net making 14 saves in the win while Matt Kustra turned aside 27 of 30 shots in the losing.
