Swan Valley Stampeders announce a profit from 2023/24 season

The Manitoba Junior Hockey League's Swan Valley Stampeders held their annual general meeting on Wednesday night in Swan River.

During the meeting, Stampeder alumni Evan Morden was named as the new President taking over the outgoing Cramer Coulthart, who'll stay on as governor.

"First off I'd like to thank Cramer for all the work he did as President, he provided stability and steered the team in the right direction through some very unprecedented times, but for myself I'm looking forward to the opportunity, to work a new full board of directors it's pretty exciting," Morden said.

Yes for the first time since 2016, the organization's twelve seats on the board are filled after going through last season with half the seats vacant.

The success on the ice was different from what the hockey club was looking for, missing the postseason but Morden adds they did have a profitable year off of it.

"Yea, we were able to have a pretty good year financially with a profit of around 55 thousand dollars for the bottom, thanks to our great corporate sponsors, plus 61 thousand profit from our crop project and trying to reduce our expenses as best as possible."

Morden adds that bringing back Head Coach & General Manager Barry Wolff is a positive for the organization both on and off the ice, and he's expecting the team to be much more competitive in 2024/25.
