The Yorkton Terriers extended their league-leading record to a perfect 5-0 in the young SJHL season with a convincing 4-1 victory over the visiting Flin Flon Bombers on Tuesday night.
Youngster Evan Auld ignited the scoreboard early in the second period and doubled his tally later on, setting the pace for the Terriers’ offence. Aiden Knutson and Jaron Desnoyers, who netted his league-high eighth goal of the season, also contributed to the scoresheet.
Flin Flon’s sole highlight came from Carter Cormier’s power play goal in the second period. The Bombers will look to bounce back Wednesday night as they continue their gruelling four-game, five-night road trip with a visit to the Notre Dame Hounds in Wilcox.
Terriers’ goaltender Ethan Farrow was rock-solid, earning his fourth consecutive win by stopping 29 of 30 shots. Despite a valiant effort, Kenneth Marquart’s 26 saves weren’t enough to turn the tide for the Bombers.
The Terriers return to action Sunday afternoon for a matinee showdown against the visiting Humboldt Broncos, starting at 3:00 PM.
