Local products Zerr; Kozushka selected in 2022 CFL Draft on Tuesday

A couple of local products were selected during last night's 2022 Canadian Football League draft.

Langenburg's Noah Zerr out of the Saskatchewan Huskies was picked in the 2nd round, 12th overall by the BC Lions, while Yorkton product Peter Kozushka of the Alberta Golden Bears went in the 6th round, 51st overall by the Montreal Alouettes.

The 6'7, 330 pound Zerr appeared in 30 games over four seasons with the Huskies, starting all but one of those at left tackle and he says the moment was pretty surreal.
""You dreamed about that moment your whole life and I'm just so lucky and happy that the BC Lions are willing to take a chance on me and draft me into their organization and see what I can do come training camp time."
Zerr will also attend mini-camp with the NFL's New York Giants later this month.

Meanwhile for Kozushka, a fellow Yorkton Raider Gridder alumni, he just completed his 4th year with Golden Bears as their left tackle and he says it's a dream come true.
"Growing up in Yorkton and it's growing up in Saskatchewan, actually, it's the big football province and you always watch the CFL on TV and there's always a little voice in the back of the young kids head saying, hey, one day that could be me, kind of thing and so to actually have it happen is it's awesome and amazing and surreal and I'm just so thankful for everybody who's helped me out on this journey throughout my life and I'm really happy that it was able to happen. "

As a former Coach, it was a pretty proud moment last night (Tues) for Raider Gridder Head Coach Roby Sharpe.
"You know we've had these guys with us since there were, 11 years old and to see them get drafted and get the chance to live out their dream it's just absolutely awesome."
