The Swan Valley Stampeders dropped their 2nd straight decision as they were blanked 3-0 by the Portage Terriers on Friday night at the Centennial Arena in Swan River.
It wasn't the start were looking for as just 1:41 into period number 1, the Terriers would open the scoring as Tyler Jeanson would knock home his 12th of the season through the five-hole of Lasse Peterson to give his team an early 1-0. The Stamps throughout the opening frame would not get much offence whats so ever as they were only able to muster up 5 shots in the 1st and the visitors led 1-0 after 1.
In the 2nd it was a little better start for the Stamps as they did have some chances including the league's top goal scorer in Max Flanagan hitting the post on a 2-on-1 but it would be the Portage Terriers getting the only goal and it would be Nolan Ross getting his 6th of the season to give the Terriers a 2 goal 2-0 after 40 minutes.
In the 3rd it would be the Stamps' best period of the 3, but they did have 3 early powerplays including a 4 minute powerplay which they couldn't convert and they would go 0 for 6 on the powerplay on the evening. Terriers' captain and lone 20 year old Riley Hay would put the final nail in the coffin for the Terriers with a late powerplay goal his 8th to complete the scoring at 3-0 Portage.
Talor Joseph stopped 25 shots for his 1st MJHL shutout while 16 year old Lasse Peterson was very solid in a losing cause stopping 39 of 42 shots.
The Stamps will return to action on Sunday when they visit the Dauphin Kings, pregame 7:20, Play by play at 7:30 on GX94.
