The Yorkton Terriers got their point streak snapped at 10 games on Tuesday night as they lost 4-3 to the Estevan Bruins at Spectra Place.
The Terriers would start off the open period with some jump and get some good chances including Derek Falloon hitting the post a minute in but it would be the Bruins who would strike first as Austin Daae would direct home a Tanner Froese pass , past Kale Thomson to give the Bruins a 1-0 lead. The Terriers shortly after would head to the penalty box and the Bruins would convert on the PP as Austin Rosselen would get the goal to give them a early 2-0 lead. It would stay like that until the latter stages of the 1st when Yorkton Harvest call up Corwin Stevely would convert on a nice feed from Josh Ellis in the slot for his 1st SJHL goal to make it sit at 2-1 Bruins after 1 period of play.
In the 2nd it would be the Bruins opening the scoring once again as this time it would be Jason Duret netting his 1st goal as a Bruin to regain them their 2 goal lead at 3-1. The middle of this period would be when the Terriers would start to pick it up and carry most of the play and they would be rewarded as Dalton Menke would snap one past Matt Gibney for his 6th of the Season with just over 40 seconds to go to cut the Bruin lead in half once again to 3-2 after 40 minutes.
In the third the Terriers would continue their strong play but it would be Estevan again converting with the mad advantage as Captain Tanner Froese would wrist one over the right pad of Thomson to make it a 2 goal 4-2 Bruin lead. The Terriers would get a little life back as Tayler Thompson would put a rebound where Grandma hides the cookies top shelf for his 9th to make it 4-3. Yorkton would put on frantic pressure to try and get the equalizer and even have a late power play but they couldn't complete the comeback as the Bruins held on for a 4-3 win.
Matt Gibney stopped 32 of 35 shots for the win while Kale Thomson stopped 20 shots in a losing cause.
These two teams will go right back at it for the 6th and final time on Friday night at the FAA 7:30 Faceoff
