The Swan Valley Stampeders have entered the Christmas break on a losing note after dropping a 4-2 decision on Tuesday night to the Virden Oil Capitals.
The Oil Caps would draw first blood just over half way through the first as Tanner Lewis would take a nice feed from Dylan Cusmano and knock home his 5th of year to make it 1-0. But the Stamps would even it up a short time later as Chandler Ashcroft would go top shelf short side over Sean Keuhn for his 1st MJHL goal to tie things up at 1-1 after 20 minutes. Shots 11-8 Virden.
The Stamps would grab their first lead just 30 seconds into the middle frame as Josh Martin would finish off a nice passing play for his 5th goal of the season to make it 2-1 for the visitors. Brett Sharples would even things once again for Virden as he would get his 1st to even it up at 1-1. Then just 1:02 later, Dulan Cusmano's one-timer would beat Degraves for his 4th to make it a 3-2 Virden after 2 periods. Shots 26-17 Oil Capitals.
The Oil Caps would add another one on the powerplay in the 3rd as Dylan Thiessen would net home his 13th goal of the season to make It a 4-2 Virden final.
Sean Keuhn made 20 saves on 22 saves for the win, while Zach De graves stopped 31 shots in a losing cause.
The Stamps next action will be in the New Year on Sunday Jan. 3rd when they visit the Neepawa Natives.
