Neibrandt joins Bourhis as a U of R Cougar

**from yorktonterriers.com (Thanks Steiner)

The only two defensemen to graduate from the 2012-2013 SJHL Champion Terriers will once again line up on the same blue line.

Both Austin Bourhis (Kipling, SK) and John Neibrandt (Rhein, SK) will suit up with the University of Regina Cougars in the CIS.

Bourhis and Neibrandt's careers have mirrored each other, having both been Terriers at 17, and returning at 20, with a couple Western Hockey League seasons in between.

Neibrandt played part of his 17-year-old season with the Terriers, before joining the Kootenay Ice for two full seasons, where he won a WHL Championship in 2011. Bourhis was a full-time Terrier at 17, and spent the next two seasons in Prince Albert (WHL). With WHL teams having just three slots for 20-year-olds, Bourhis was given one last crack in Moose Jaw, and Neibrandt in Vancouver, before both ended up back in Yorkton, adding size and strength to the Terriers' back end, while also adding a championship ring.

Neibrandt's Assistant Coach in Kootenay was Todd Johnson, who now serves as the Head Coach at the U of R.

  1. I thought one of the mandates of the new staff was to be the ability to get CHL grads. Where are they?
